ABOUT “STREET PIZZA”
“Street Pizza” is what happens when a perfectly ordinary summer drive takes a horribly wrong turn — and somebody decides to write a song about it. With his buddy Danny Fulton riding shotgun, an unfortunate encounter with Mr. Rogers’ cat quickly becomes a darkly comic tour through the less glamorous side of America’s highways. Cats, dogs, squirrels, skunks and one poor county worker with a shovel all get caught in the story. It’s irreverent, ridiculous and intentionally over the line — because sometimes the things you probably shouldn’t laugh at are exactly the things that end up in a song called “Street Pizza.”
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Went out for a drive one hot summer night
There was a smell in the air that just wasn't right
My friend Danny Fulton sittin' by my side
Doin' absolutely nothin' 'cuz he's that kinda guy
[Pre-Chorus]
Danny screamed, "What the f**k was that?"
Don't back up, it's Mr. Roger's cat
[Chorus]
Street pizza, they really make me sick
Those cats and dogs and chickens, they're always gettin' hit
Mangled little squirrels in my tire treads
Can't tell the difference tween their butt or their heads
Street pizza, na na na, hey it's all road kill!
[Verse 2]
Standin' by the car in the pourin' rain
Got a garbage bag ta clean up the remains
My friend Danny Fulton thought it was all a joke
Until he picked up the carcass and began to choke
[Pre-Chorus]
Mr. Rogers screamed, "Who the hell is that?"
It's not our fault that your cat is flat
[Chorus]
Street pizza, they really make me sick
Those cats and dogs and raccoons, they're always gettin' hit
Black and white hairs meshed in the tar
Dirty smelly skunk stinking up my car
Street pizza, na na na, hey it's all road kill
[Bridge]
Mr. County Man with a shovel at his feet
His heart bleeds out as he's scraping up the street
Life's not fair, on the hot concrete
[Guitar Solo]
[Spoken Word]
I told him never to go out in the street
[Chorus]
Street pizza, they really make me sick
Those cats and dogs and rabbits, they'e always gettin' hit
Mangled little squirrels in my tire treads
Can't tell the difference tween their butt or their heads
Street pizza, na na na, hey it's all road kill
[Outro]
Street pizza, they really make me sick
Those cats and dogs and frogs, them stupid little shits
Black and white hairs meshed in that tar
Dirty smelly skunk stinkin' up my car
Street pizza, na na na, hey it's all road kill
(uh ay, uh ay ay)
Street pizza, na na na, na na na Road Kill
Street pizza, na na na, na na na Road Kill
Street pizza, na na na, na na na Road Kill
